As coaches, we love to tell people all about the number of sessions and our beautiful worksheets and how often they’ll get to have contact with us, their oh-so-valuable coaches. But that’s not what is important.

 

Here you’ll learn to show them, using their very own words, how you can help them reach the desire they explained, or alleviate the pain they described. This is only possible if you have done all the previous steps: you have a deep belief in what you’re selling, in the person you’re talking to, and you LISTENED carefully when they spoke.

 

This is where you learn to talk about your offer in a way that makes the person listening think, “oh, that is exactly what I need.” They’ll be reaching for their wallets before they even know how much.

This is the part where we get weird and squeaky. I still feel my heart race and my face get red when I make an invitation to work with me!

 

This is where you tell them how to work with you and the price (though obviously we’ll call it an investment, not a price or cost. Not because we’re manipulating, but because we’ve spent the time creating the belief that what we’re selling is truly an investment.)

 

Here’s where you’ll learn to calm your nervous system in this moment and hold space for anything that comes up for the person you’re speaking with.

Some people call this “overcoming objections.” That feels gross and pushy to me, so I think of it as simply coaching.

 

You already know this person’s desires, fears, and pain points. You already know if what you are offering is a perfect fit for them. Now you might see some of those same fears rear their ugly heads. You already know how to coach someone through these fears, but you may have forgotten you do. You get in your head because you start to think that you’re selling YOU, rather than the transformation that the person wants.

 

This is where you’ll learn to coach through objections in a way that doesn’t feel gross. You’ll never look at this part of the conversation the same way again.

 

Sometimes you don’t even have to coach. Sometimes a conversation has gone so well that the person you’re speaking to just says, “sign me up!” Then I think of this final C as Close. You’ll learn how to wrap up a conversation and tell the person what to expect next from you, from their brains, and from the people around them. This makes for an easier transition and fewer freak outs after the conversation!

Here I’m going to show you how to put this all together in a script for consult calls. But I’m going to make it SUPER easy on you and just give you my template that you can copy and paste your own stuff into, because I don’t want you to have to work that hard.

 

And this script is genius. I have used it to close… let’s just say, LOTS of dollars worth of sales.

But the best part about the script is that you won’t feel like you’re using a script. It just becomes sort of an outline to keep you on track, but you’ll feel just like you’re having a conversation with a friend. What it WILL do for you is make you feel a lot less pukey before a consult call. I get excited about them now (even about the objections part!)

B BASIC is a perfect format for a consult call, but it also applies to a conversation at a networking event, or speaking from stage, or posting on social media.

 

Here I’ll teach you how to use this format to help yourself stay on track, but how to use it to get clients anywhere and everywhere. (Like I mentioned, I’ve gotten clients on airplanes, in the pool, and at the hair salon.) I just keep in the back of my mind where I am in the process and move the conversation along smoothly according to B BASIC.

No, you just have to be familiar with these four skills:

  • Creating emotions in yourself (how to become aware of the thoughts that are generating your emotions that are driving your actions, then purposefully cultivate and practice new, more productive thoughts)
  • Holding space (how to have zero judgment, positive or negative, when someone is speaking, but instead to create space that accounts for their past, their experiences, their culture, their thought patterns, etc.
  • Everything that makes up who they are and how they think and act)
    Asking powerful questions (not just surface level questions, but questions designed to uncover true pain and desire that exists below someone’s awareness)
  • Having no agenda (we believe that people are the experts on their own lives, and we do not know what’s best for them. This is a delicate balance when selling!)

Yes, maybe even better than it works for extroverts. I’m an extreme extrovert, and one of the most difficult parts of sales calls for me is not dominating the conversation. As an introvert, you are likely a good listener. If you are also sensitive to nuance and observant of others, you will be amazing at selling.

I’ve been in high ticket sales for a long time. As I mentioned before, I sucked at them at first. Then I became a life coach and learned to combine my coaching skills with the skills I learned in sales. It was like a magic formula!!
